Transition to Single LMS
( 8 Articles )

As was announced in a memorandum circulated by Dr Catherine Mateer, Associate Vice-President for Academic Planning, on June 17, 2010, UVic has made the strategic decision to support a single learning management system (LMS). This in effect means that only Moodle will be centrally supported, and that:
- since April 1, 2011, Blackboard has no longer been offered as an option for instructors and courses that have not used it before;
- after the end of the summer 2011 term, Blackboard will no longer be available at all.
In order to re-use the content of any Blackboard course sites, teachers must take either of the actions outlined at Blackboard Help > Single LMS Transition > Making the Move by June 17, 2011.
Anyone who would like to book a consultation for further assistance with their Blackboard to Moodle migration must first:
- attend a "Moodle 101" workshop (dates, times and booking details available here); and
- start the migration process by taking either of the actions outlined at Blackboard Help > Single LMS Transition > Making the Move.
If, and only if, both of the above conditions have been met, consultations may be requested via Moodle Help > Request support. Consultations are provided on a first-come-first-served basis and availability is limited.
July 15 is the very last date when Learning Systems will accept requests for help related to Blackboard to Moodle migrations (actual migration requests must be made by no later than June 17, as previously stated).
Those no longer using Blackboard to teach or who have already taken action to transfer their course content to Moodle should take a few seconds to fill out the form available at Blackboard Help > Single LMS Transition > Already migrated so they can be removed from Learning Systems' migration reminder mailing list.
