Administration and Side Blocks

email print

courselookThe far-left and far-right columns within a course shell are essentially called a tool blocks area. Currently, when a UVic Moodle course shell is created, the following blocks are automatically added.

  • Administration: Allows instructors to manage course settings including student access, with links to Settings, Assign Roles, create student Groups, Grades, and more.
  • Course Menu: Provides links to the activities, resources, and administration tools for the course.
  • Course Announcements: Displays a quick link to posts that instructors have added to the News Forum / Course Announcements.
  • My Courses: Lists, and links to, all courses that you are enrolled in.
  • Upcoming Events: Displays quick links to upcoming course events entered into the Calendar.

There are many other types of blocks that can be added to a course. How you choose to use these tools in your teaching is entirely up to you; your course shell can be as individual as you, your subject, your teaching, and your class.

We will explore each of these tool blocks individually through the links below.
