If you have already tried using iclickers (please refer to the page on trying out out iclickers) and have decided to adopt this technology as an integral part of your course(s), you will find all the support you need right here on campus. Just follow the instructions below.
Checklist
- Have your department request an iclicker-enabled classroom from UVic Scheduling
Just as your department would normally specify that your classroom should have a projector or any other kind of audio-visual equipment, it should indicate to Scheduling that you would like to use iclickers. If Scheduling cannot accommodate your request right away, they will refer it to Learning Systems, and we will contact you with a solution. - Your students will need to buy iclicker remotes
You or your department will need to advise the UVic Book Store that iclickers are required for your course, providing them with your course name and CRN, as well as class size so that they have enough remotes for all your students. This requirement will appear on the Book Store web site along with your course text book(s). Also contact the Book Store directly for information about current prices. - Make sure you have a master (instructor's) clicker
If do not have a master clicker, contact Learning Systems and we will provide you with one, free of charge. - You will need the latest version of the iClicker and iGrader applications
Learning Systems can provide you with a USB stick containing the software you will need to operate the iclicker base station (i.e. start and stop polling, set preferences, view polling data, etc). You can also download the software directly from the vendor, free of charge. If you choose to do that, we recommend that you unpack (unzip) the downloaded file to a USB stick (a.k.a. thumb drive), as that will allow you to use different computers and always have your data with you. - You will need a computer
Lastly – and most obviously – you will need a computer. Many of the classrooms equipped with iclicker base stations also have desktop computers that you can use (as long as you have the iclicker software on a USB stick). You can also use your own laptop, of course.
