ITS Workshops increasingly popular

The ITS (Instructional Technology Series) workshops co-promoted by Learning Systems and the Learning & Teaching Centre have been growing in popularity.

Our November session on social media in education featured Chris Parsons, a Political Science doctoral student whose research focuses on privacy in digital media, and Bill Trott, UVic's Privacy Officer, in addition to our very own media guru, Patric Lougheed. Held in the LTC classroom, the event was standing room only.

On December 1 we promoted a workshop on iPads and 'iothers' which proved so popular that we had to move to a larger venue in the McPherson Library. A panel of six UVic educators (Erin McGuire, Kathy Sanford, Leslee Francis Pelton, Tim Hopper and Tim Pelton, led by Janni Aragon) shared their insights and experieces with a diverse audience.

Our next event, on practical ideas for engaging students with clickers, will be held on January 10. Ed Ishiguro, UVic professor emeritus and iclicker pioneer, will lead a collaborative session with panelists from different academic departments.

New ITS events will be happening monthly throughout 2012. Visit the Learning Systems web site for more information, or follow us on Twitter (UVicLearnSystem).
