Learning Systems provides support for the online teaching tools listed below. In most instances, support includes workshops, consultation on use of the tools, and consulting on instructional design issues. If you are new to UVic or to the use of educational technologies, please see our Getting Started page.
Moodle
Moodle is an open source Course Management System (CMS) which provides tools for instructors to post content, hold discussions, deliver quizzes, use an assignment drop box and release grades to students online.
Turnitin
The University of Victoria subscribes to Turnitin, a web-based plagiarism prevention and detection service. UVic faculty members and instructors can use this service to educate students on the importance of proper citation and heighten awareness about plagiarism issues.
i>Clicker
i>Clicker is a student response system that instructors can use to quickly poll students’ opinions, administer quizzes and engage students in collaborative learning. Instructors typically use iclickers to ask questions and electronically gather students' responses during a lecture. Students' responses are compiled by computer software and displayed graphically through a projection system onto a screen so that learners and instructors can instantly see the results. Student answers are also stored electronically for later viewing.
